One Crazy Adventure

Kayleen + Joseph Elope to Ireland

It’s not very often I am left speechless after a wedding, but I knew when I finished this wedding that I would never be able to find the right words to explain how so very special , romantic and AMAZING this wedding was. One of the greatest gifts that my job brings is always when my clients turn into my friends and this is one of those times when I know that forever long more Kayleen & Joseph would always have had an impact on my life!

From the second I got their email, I was so excited to be involved in capturing their Adventure to Ireland and it was one of the Most special weddings I have ever had the privilege of shooting.

Kayleen & Joseph, a young couple all the way from Texas chose to make the adventure and elope to Ireland to get married. They told me they wanted an Adventure and that the Cliffs of Moher was the place they wanted to get married. I was so happy to help them plan their day, but more importantly this Elopement got a little more special for me, my Father in Law, Victor had recently become a Celebrant and had also just opened up a B&B with his Wife, Geraldine  in a tiny village in West Clare called Ballyvaughan, so I immediately knew that we could make Kayleen and Joseph feel at home for the few days we had them. I was so lucky that they trusted me  in every suggestion I had given them. It meant so much to me that they would trust me in my opinions and suggestions.

After many Skype calls and Emails , they arrived in West Clare. I met them on the eve of their wedding to finally say hello face to face and we went on tour of the Burren to show them how beautiful the West Coast of Ireland really is. The winds bellowing from the Atlantic slightly changed out plans for the ceremony but thats the joy of eloping to Ireland, the Irish weather is so unpredictable but Kayleen and Joseph took it in their stride and totally embraced the Irish Elements. The wind was strong at the cliffs and the downpour of rain at the end of the day really gave Kayleen & Joseph a taste of how unpredictable the weather can be.

Tuesday, Wedding day, started off with blue skies and the sun was high in the sky and Kayleen & Josephs spirits were higher than ever. Looking back on the morning, I know they were both missing their families, which reminds me of their bravery to follow their hearts and fly half way across of world to get married just the way they wanted. I have such admiration for these two! It was great working with Siobhan O Doherty Make up Artist on the morning of the wedding too.

We set off to one of the most beautiful venues for a ceremony along the West Coast, Corcomroe abbey. It. was by far one of the most spectacular places to get married to the love of your life and I could tell from the emotion of Kayleen and Joseph that they had chosen the perfect place too!A teary eyed and emotional first look took place at the first corner of the abbey  and I could see the love K&J had for each other the second they glanced at each other that afternoon. It was such a beautiful ceremony with lots of tears (happy tears that is) , smiles, hand fasting and a whole lot of love and emotion. Victor, did an excellent job as  celebrant. It was a proud day for me to work alongside my Father in Law. Like I said this day was special but working alongside Victor made it all the more special. After we showed them some Irish Tradition and took them for a celebratory pint before we set off around the rugged, but spectacular Burren Landscape! We ended the day at the majestic Cliffs of Moher and the winds were the strongest I have ever felt there , but as always K&J braved the elements and ended their day in EPIC form- 70 KMH winds on the edge of Ireland and completely in love.

All day I was in such awe of this amazing couple, the love they shared for each other and their sense of adventure really inspired me. I will forever be beyond grateful to Kayleen & Joseph for choosing me , for trusting me, and for reminding me how special and rare it is to find someone you love. I am grateful to have met them and will forever be inspired by them!
